SYDNEY, May 10, (Received May 10, at 10.10 a.m.) Toauru, a native of the Solomon Islands, a seaman on the steamer John Williams, was sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment with hard labor in connection with tho death of his compatriot. The judge said that ho would order Toauru to be deported. [Scarcely had the missionary steamer John Williams passed through the worst of the violent gale off Broken Bay on April 20 when one of the native boys ran amok, and after almost cutting off the head of one of his companions with a razor he savagely attacked another, on whom he inflicted serious injuries. Tho ship’s officers, attracted by the commotion in the boys’ quarters, rushed below, where the assailant submitted quietly, offering no resistance when put in irons.
