ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
JOCKEY SUCCUMBS. Rangi Naylor, the rider of Merry Singer at Hastings on Saturday, who received head injuries as a result of being kicked while on the ground by another horse after his' mount had fallen, ■ died in the hospital yesterday afternoon. Naylor was an apprentice, and rode his first race on Merry Singer on Friday. KNOCKED DOWN BY OAR. Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., opened the inquest yesterday afternoon into the circumstances of the death of James Seed, who was knocked down by a motor, cycle on Sunday evening. Evidence of identification was given by George Daniel Furness, a storekeeper, of 12 Lees Street,, who stated that deceased had resided with him for the past five months; Deceased left home at 6 p.m. on Sunday', and about an hour later, witness was informed of the accident. The inquest was adjourned until 9 a.m. on Friday.
