HARRIERS

•> $ COMBINED RUNS. Tho Anglican, Civil Service, and University Clubs held a combined run from the Caversham School. About seventy runners turned o.Jt ,and a fast pack controlled by Bastings (Civil Service) and Ruston (University) followed a good trail, which was laid by Sparrow (C.S.), Hall, and Price (Anglican). The slow pack was under the whistle of Captain N. Suckling (Anglican). The trail led over the Caversham hill to Burnside, past the Southern Reservoir. Here hilly country was met with, and the slow pack was overtaken. G. Forbes finished first in the slow pack, and Bastings and Cabot were first of the fast pack. PACIFIO. The Pacific harriers held their weekly run from tho George Street School, some thirty members turning out. W. Smith and A. Ashton were in charge of tlio paper, and laid a good crosscountry trail up Duke street to the reservoir. Here two packs were formed, the last one- under tho whistle of Captain M.oiiat, and tho slow pack under tho whistle of F. Brown. From here the trail led around tho bottom of Flagstaff to Sullivan Dam, and on to tho" Bine Hill road towards tho Woodhaugh Gardens. In a fast run home Hobbs,. Holt, Alouat, APConnoll, and Potbury finished in that order. Tho cycling members of the club, under the whistle of J. Campbell, rode as far as tho reservoir and back. MORNINGTON. The Mornington Harriers held an enjoyable outing from the George Street School, under perfect weather conditions. The pack made use of the trail laid by the Pacific hares, following it up tho Woodhaugh road, through tho bush which loads on to the reservoir, then following the back road and across real good country until the Leith Valley road was reached. They followed this for about a mile, then up the hid beside tho dam, and down the other side into the Valley road again, just at the paper mill. From here a steady pace was kept up until nearing George street, when Captain Chirnsido led them off in a fast sprint, which resulted in lan and Cliff Chirnsido and Burrell being first in that order. DUNEDIN AND LEITH. Tho Dunedin and Leith Harrier Clubs had a combined run from the Alornington School, tho paper being in the capable bands of S. Parker and A. Mann, of tbo Leith Club, and J. Fitzgerald, of the Dunedin Chib. The trail led across country towards tho reservoir, over Bound Hill, back on to tbo Mill road to Alaori Hill; through Oban street on to tho run homo starting Iron, the golf links, resulting in J. E. Fitzgerald (of Dunedin) and Johnson (of Leith) slow pack, and Watson and Potter (of Leith) fast pack, running homo in that order. CAVERSHAM. The Caversham Harriers ran from the Green Island School, some thirty-seven members turning out. The paper was in charge of Tapp nr.d Enimerson, who led a good trail along the railway lipc, rcross the Alain South load, skirting Shiel’s Sand Pits, and on to Freeman’s Coal Aline. From there the paper led to the wafer race, where a run was held to the caretaker s residence.- After a brief rest a run home was held from llarraway’s AIilN, which finished with Juglis, Wood, M'Connell to the fore. For next Saturday’s mils maiden there are twenty-four entries, which should result in a good race for the new members. ST. PATRICK’S. St. Patrick’s held their weekly run from the Sacred Heart School, Northeast Valley, as the guests of the Dominican Sisters. Under the whistle of Captain 11. W. APDonncll the trail led up Pino Hill over into the Woodhaugh Valley. The Leith was followed to Njchol’s Creek, and up to the Nichol’s Falls. A short rest, and tho pack tinued over tho hills to Ross Creek and down into the Woodhaugh Gardens. From Here was held tho run home, H. W. MTonald, Carroll, and Bradley being first home. ABBOTSFORD. The newly-formed Abbotsford Methodist Club held its first run, starling from tho church. _ Tho paper was in the hands of Archie Walker ;.ml led Brown, who chose a fine course, across Green Island, past the Green Island School, then over the hills to tho golf links, and back to Concord, and along behind the cement works back to Abbotsford. All tho lads shaped well for beginners. The first three home being Ivan Broivii, P. Bennett, and D. Benfell. Next Saturday they will bo (he guests of the young Indies’ Bible c.nss. ST. HILDA. St. Hilda held its mile and a-hn!f novice race from the corner or the Bungalow Tea Rooms, St. Hilda. Nino men faced the starter, Air J. .Henderson. Tho course was along Ailcona road to Talmna Park across llu; sand ml coming out at Cavcll ‘treat info Bowen street, thence into _ Queen’s drive, back to the starting point. The results were as follow:—T.' Boarclman 1. V. Duell 2. G. Dunn 3. After the race the pack held a short run. CARGILL ROAD. Cargill Road Methodists held their run from the St. Clair Baths. A good trail was laid by L. Grey and R. Edwards. At the whistle of Captain R. Graves a largo pack assembled, and the trail was soon found leading louiul Second Beach. On climbing the hill at Second Beach a wrong trail was billowed, but the right one was .-.nan found at the back of the golf links. 'Soon after this the trail loft tho road, and some good harrier country was encountered, eventually leading out on tho road at Green island beach. Alter leaving Green Island beach *ho slow pack went ahead, and at APMlllan’s farm the fast pack started at a busk pace, w'hich was kept up till the baihs were reached. Tho result was. —l. King 1, W.
