KAIKORAI SCHOOL BAZAAR

r A bazaar promoted in aid'of the Ivaikorai School funds, was opened yesterday afternoon in the school gymnasium by Mr R. S. Black, who referred to the need of improvements to the grounds, and for important school equipment. He particularly noted that the fine memorial arch at the entrance to the school required a good fence to give the work a proper finish. Ho also referred to the splendid effort put forward by the whole district, and said that the work of the ladies and thh school children was particularly commendable. ’ The well-laden stalls justified the excellent patronage which, he felt sure, would be received from the crowded attendance. Hd believed in those who helped themselves, - and the Ivaikorai School and its many friends were certainly living up to such a code, that day; There were six stalls containing all classes ,'of goods. The produce stall was in charge of Mr J. Matheson, the Standard VI. stall was in charge of girls and _ boys under Miss P. Moir; the confectionery and cake stall is,in charge of Mrs D. Millar and Miss W. Reid; the fancy work stall was/in charge of Miss P. Jones; Miss J. Robertson had charge of the plain work stall; the hopp-la was in charge of Mr P. L. Ritchie, and the fish pond was supervised by Miss Whitelaw. The bazaar was continued last evening, when the stalls were practically depleted of the wide range of goods which they contained. An excellent entertainment was given by scholars from the school, the items being greatly appreciated by the largo assemblage. There was a rummage sale this afternoon.

Tea rooms was also included in the bazaar catalogue. Those in charge were Mesdames A. 0. Buchler, W. Sinclair, H. MTntosh, M. Webster, J. Clyde, and N. Reardon. ■ The school district is greatly indebted to all those who assisted, particularly the members of the School Committee, and a commitee of ladies, who made the very complete preparations, and also to the numerous persons who forwarded gifts.
