OCTAGON Zano Grey lias ivritten many fine stones of the West, and many of these have been adapted to the screen with | great success, hut Paramount has uht> j doubtedly given the public his best talc in * Born' to the West.’ The stirring i deeds of the pioneers of the West, nd I the rugged life of the lawless wastes are faithfully portrayed in this picture, which was again witnessed 'by a bigaudtenco at the Octagon Theatre last evening. The opening scene is set in a school ground in the year 1875. Two boys, Dare Rudd and Bate Fillmore, quarrel over Nell Worstall. The fight develops into a dangerous conflict, and both combatants receive deep soars: Years pass. Iludd, who has been a’ wandering cowboy, decides'to go home to his people. There he finds Nell, the sweetheart of his youthful days. He also finds Fillmore,_ and'the old fight is renewed. Many times the two meet, and in a spectacular fight at the end of the picture Fillmore is killed. Rudd and' Nell marry. The work of Jack Holt, as Dare Rudd.'is an outstanding feature of the picture. He is given able support by Margaret Morris (Nell Worstall), Bruce Gordon, as the villainous Bate Fillmore, and many others. Two or three other films, including an interesting Government picture dealing with the manufacture of motor car number plates, are shown. EMPIRE Tho final screening of the Eeginald Denny comedy, entitled ‘Take it From Me,’ will take place at the Empire Theatre to-night. Tho -story concerns the adventures of Tom Eggett, who,_ with tho < aid of two spendthrift friends, rapidly goes through the 50,000 dollars' that his wealthy uncle 1 has left him. Ho is then informed that a codicil iii his uncle’s will provided that if Tom could operate the huge .Eggett department store at .a profit for three months he should, inherit it, failing that, it reverts to the present, manager of the store, Cyrus Crabb. The efforts of the boys, to outwit Crabb, and the latter’s effort to get tho better of the boys forms the foundations of a fine _ comedy. ‘ Fighting ■ Fins,’ the pictorial record of Zone Grey’s swordfishing cruise at Russell/ will also bo screened finally. EVERYBODY'S Doris Kenyon and Warner Baxter will be seen finally in ‘Misinates’ at Everybody’s Theatre, to-night. The story centres about a man who, after' some years of married life, leaves his wife, and is instrumental in having her imprisoned. She hears that her son is dying, however, and escapes, and goes to his bedside. Finally, through tho agency of a brilliant young lawyer, she ; proves her case, and is released. I ‘ Drucilla With a Million ’ is tho second picture. The story tells of a pathetic old lady in a charitable institution who inherits a million dollar legacy. 1 Pathos, comedy, and excitement are 1 all blended in their correct proportions I in this picture. QUEEN’S ‘The Campus Flirt’ receives its final | screening at the Queen’s Theatre to- j night. In this picture Bebe Daniels j ■has the role of Patricia Mansfield, a rich young girl whom the foreign eol- | leges has turned into a snob. Her ; father finally sends her to an American ) college, where she wins fame as a | sprinter, being chosen as a representa- i tire' of tho college at an important sports gathering. The students of a • rival institution capture her on the ■ evening before the event; hut she ; escapes in time to take part, and helps to bring victory to her alma mater, KING EDWARD ‘ The Campus Flirt,’ featuring Beho Daniels, will conclude its local' season to-night. This is a comedy of college Ifte. Miss Daniels is seen as a vivacipus young lady whom tho colleges of foreign countries have turned into a snob. I In order to counteract this nature, her ' father sends her to a local college. | Hero she wins fame as an athlete, and'; upholds the honor of college. The final i screening of ‘ Drucilla With a Million ’ will also tako place. . PLAZA AND GRAND A delightful comedy, entitled- ‘The ' Waning Sex,’ will he screened finally at the Plaza_ and Grand Theatres tonight. This is tho story of a boy and his_ fiancee who cannot agree as to which is the waning sex. ‘Woman Power’ will also be screened finally.
