A young man whoso name was suppressed was charged that at Christchurch on January 27 last he stole £2/, the property of his employers, the Todd Motor Company.—Chief-deteqtive Cameron said that a sum of £4OO or £•500 was involved, and Asked _ for a remand to Christchurch. This was granted, accused to appear there on the 22nd inst.—Bail was fixed at £2OO, with one surety of £2OO. James Cruickshank Paul, charged with the theft of an overcoat valued at 10s, the property of Amos Abraham Fenton, was remanded till Wednesday next. George Symons Ross was charged that on the night of the 17th inst . he was found without lawful excuse on the premises at 9 Maitland street, occupied by Alathea Robertson, under circumstances Ifjiat did not disclose the commits I or intention to commit any other offence.—The sub-inspector asked for a remand till Wednesday next,'and this was granted. ASSAULT ALLEGED. John William David Turnbull was charged witli having assaulted John Turnbull (his father) by striking him with a bucket.—Defendant was further charged with having procured liquor while a prohibited person.—Sub-inspec-tor Fahey asked for a remand till Wednesday next, and this was granted.
