BOWLING

THE EASTER TOURNAMENT A start was made this morning with the local bowling tournament, when forty-eight players met on Roslyn; Caversham, and Caledonian greens in the singles competition. Among the entrants are some well-known Dunedin players, and one or two visitors from the south. Each player is assured of three games. Showers overnight took the keenness out of the greens, and the wind this morning was rather unpleasant. The umpires were:—Caledonian, J. C. Whitelaw; Caversham—J. Tonkin and W. Orchard; Reslyn, W. J. Worthington. Mr W. T. Henaghan (president of the centre) and Mr R. Hanning (secretary) took oversight of the arrangements. Luncheon was taken after three rounds, and section ties wei© then played.
