CRIES OF “HELP!”
MAN ATTACKED BY TWO A, SURPRISE SEQUEL AUCKLAND, April 14. Cries of “ Help ” on Maugere bridge last night brought prompt response from passers-by, who found one man on the ground and two others attempting to take something from him. Mr Allen, sen., caught one man as he was attempting to jump the fence and hold him. until help arrived. His daughter seized the other fellow, who appeared to strike her a heavy blow, when Allen felled him with a righthander. All three men concerned in the affray were lodged in the police station, whore a handbag, stated to be in the possession of the man assaulted, was found to contain opium worth about £2O.
