The other day a hoy ran into the shop of a friend and asked for half a pound of tough steak. “You mean tender, don’t you?” said my friend. “ No, tough.” “ You must he a funny lad, or you have made a mistake.” , “ No, .it ain’t any mistake It’s for father’s supper, see ; and if it’s tender he’ll eat it all, but if it’s tough I’ll get a hit.”
