MAN WHO COURTED PRINCESS
Alois Frankenburg, who was engaged to bo married 120 times, has died at his home in Bavaria. He was the son of a well-to-do farmer, and when a young man inherited his father’s estate, which he sold plot by plot to have money to lead a luxurious life. . , In Spam, where he appeared as “Count Von Frankenberg,” he was leceived in the best society, and when he saw the possibility of marrying a Spanish princess he increased his prestige by paying the entire expenses of a bullfight in Seville, Hearing, however, that the princess’s parents were making inquiries about him in Bavaria, he fled to the United States, where, having run through his fortune, ho served in the army for four years. He went round the world as the secretary of an American millionaire. He lived on his wits in England and France, and in 1594 joined the French Foreign Legion. When he returned to Germany he made a living for a while lecturing on his adventures.
