LOST AT POKER [Feb United Peess Association.] OAMARU, March 30. A case concerning a bet 011 a racecourse occupied tlio Oamaru magistrate for some time to-day. Nicholas Lynch, second-hand dealer, Invercargil, met Arthur Harrison Henderson on tho Oamaru courso on the first day of tho races, and handed him £lO to put on Rapir. When ho met Henderson tho next day tho latter told him he had lost the money playing peter. Lynch consulted tho police, and to-day Henderson was convicted of stealing £lB 5s 6d. Tho Magistrate said Lynch deserved no sympathy. Ho would not allow him expenses. He convicted accused and ordered him to come up for sentence if called upon within two years, the money to be refunded. The sentence carried with it a prohibition from going cn racecourses for the period named.
