MINISTER OF EDUCATION

- INSPECTS OTAGO UNIVERSITY Yesterday afternoon the Minister of Education (Hon. It. A. Wright), accompanied by Mrs Wright, visited the Otago University buildings, including the Home Science block and the new Medical School. They were received at the mam entrance, by the Chancellor (Mr T. K. Sidoy, M.P.) and members of the Otago University Council, Mr Sidey stating that the University’s difficulties were principally those of finance. Ho thanked tho Minister for what he had already done in this direction, and said that they felt sure tho University would receive every possible, consideration at his hands. The circumstances of their difficulties related to the special schools, and the speaker knew that the .Minister and his officers were endeavoring to find a solution of the problem. Mr Wright returned thanks for the welcome, and expressed a wish to visit ihe new Medical School, where he was shown through by members of the staff of the faculty.

Afternoon ten was partaken of at the Home Science School, and late in the afternoon the Minister met the Education Board in private conference. Tho Ministerial party left for _the south by the first express this morning.
