AMBUSH IN IRELAND
FREE STATE MILITARY ATTACKED HAIDERS DRIVEN OFF. Pres* Association— By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, March 27. (Received March 28, at 1.20 p.m.) A party of Free State military cyclists returning- to the Portobello barracks found the road blocked by two motor cars. Tho advance guard dismounted, whereupon thirty masked and armed men rushed from the ditches and hedges and disarmed them. The connecting file dismounted, and fired on the ambiishers, who replied, wounding him. Tho main body of fifteen arrived, and joined in the fight. The raiders decamped in motor cars. It is believed that some"' were wounded. A doctor, whom tho raiders previously ambushed, rendered first aid to tlie wounded. Tho military searched the Dublin district, and made four arrests.—Sydney ‘ Sun ’ Cable.
