VINDICATED
TRADE UNIONS AND STRIKE MINERS’ GUNS SPIKED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 31. The issue which has _ agitated nil branches of trade unionism since the general strike was called off has been definitely closed with an overwhelming vindication of the action of the Trades Union Congress. The miners, supported by two smaller unions, came prepared to fight, but the decision of the Standing Orders Committee in ruling out the amendment proposing a vote of the rank and file virtually “spiked their guns.” Nevertheless, their representatives raised ineffective protests, but the delegates generally supported the view that as they were the body which mandated the General Council to call a strike they should bo the body to pass judgment on the action calling off the strike. Most likely a miners’ delegates’ conference will'ba held to consider leadership and policy during the strike in view of the verdict passed Iry trade unionism.
