Speaking at a social function given by British Indians in honor of the Indian Delegation attending the Roundtable Conference, Mr Srinivasa Sastri said: .“There is now every hope that a basis for a perfect understanding has been laid.” Mo came full of hope, but with rtot much expectation, and he would leave with his hopes practically fulfilled and his expectation raised still more that it would not be long before they would get their due. The final sitting of the conference will be held to-day. [The Right Hon. Mr Srinivasa Sastrf is president of the Servants of India Society, Poona. Ho was a schoolmaster at various institutions till he became head master of one of the biggest high schools in the Presidency. He resigned in 1906 and joined the above society. He was a member of the Madras Legislative Council in 1913 and the Viceroy’s Legislative Council from 1916 to 1920. He visited England in 1919 ns a member of tho Moderate Deputation, and again in 1921 as the Indian representative to the Imperial Conference. In 1922 he was deputed by the Government of India to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada to urge on those Governments the' removal of disabilities of Indians lawfully domiciled there. He again visited England in 1924 on behalf of the National Convention and the National Liberal Federation of India to press for further constitutional reforms in India.]
