A HOUSE FIRE

ALMOST TOTAL LOSS At 2.35 a.m. the City Fire Brigade received a call to a four-roomed wooden house occupied by Mrs Hilland family, and situated at the top o <: Black’s road, North-cast Valley. When a machine arrived on the scene the flames had a good hold, and the_ best efforts could not prevent practically total loss. The fire swept through the hopse, leaving it a mere shell. The outhouses were untouched, and neighboring housese were in very little danger owing to the isolated position of the burning building. Through an unknown cause the house caught fire—while no one was within, the occupiers beiu gon holiday. No insurances were available to-day.
