ABBREVIATED NIGHTGOWNS PYJAMAS LIKE SHORTS. (By “A Loxdo.xee,” in the Sydney ‘ Sun.’) All the new French model nightdresses that autumn brides are having copied are short. There are no trailing, tripping tails to them—nono ot the ghostly Lady Macbeth lengthy folds. Instead, the newest are not unlike the attenuated silk frocks one wears in summer. . They are made of crepe de dune or georgette, and have jabot side fronts and an occasional panel on their skirts, and though there are many lace insertions, there is considerably more embroidery, which launders so Well. , , Pale pinks, pale faded mauves, and white are the favorite colors at the moment, and their costliness is in inverse ratio to their length. But all of them are quite short, and allow tor that easy spring from one’s bed that leads to the morning “ twelve ” of the habitual exerciser, who finds in these movements that lissomeness which is needed for the graceful wearing of lovely clothes.

CURRANT RED SLEEPING SUITS. The newest fashion in pyjamas for bedroom wear is a modified term of running shorts, coming well above the knee, and worn with a Homed pyjama coat. These are in the ochre pink, in crepe de chine —that is, the nearest approach to the healthy tone of young flesh. It is the real “ nude pink ” that has been aimed at for a long time. Some young women who have lovely white tones in their skin are trying a light sliado of currant red for pyjamas, but it is a trifle startling for maids bringing in the morning tea, though it looks well against frilled p'lknvs and lace counterpanes. Others are wearing the old tone of AVntteau blue that is seen in Romney pictures and French salons. This is more feminine ami alluring. The feeling for blue is also noticeable in the lovely new dressing gowns, which, like nighties, are much shorter than they were Thev are being made with long wrap-over fronts, like coats. Charming dressing gowns in embroidered AVatteau blue taffeta, made with big frilly collars and frilly cuffs, the embroidery being in little floral pink and green posies, are the favorite “ wrapper.” For cold weather they are interlined. Others are in ordinary floral blue taffetas and are less costly. The new velvet hroches are also being used, with fur trimmings, for wrappers, and the bedroom furs are marabout. dyed hare, and white “bunny.” A cliartreuse green velvet broche is lined in marabout of the same shade, and a roso-red has a quilted georgette lining, and trimming and facings down the fronts and forming the collar.
