BOWLING. SOUTHLAND TOURNEY. The Southland tourney wa-s continued yesterday in tine weather. The semi-finals in the pairs were reached this evening. In the semi-finals of section A Smith and Thomson (Southend) defeated Preecc and Perks (Gore), 15-8; and Page and Veitch (AA'est, Harbor) defeated Donaldson and Thomson (Southland), 20-16. In section B, for the losers ol the qualifying round, Miller and MacDonald (AA'aihopai) defeated Lumsden and Arson (Southland), 19-9, and Edwards and Cameron (St. Kilda) defeated Swift and Little (Aparima), 16-11. AUCKLAND TOURNEY. For the second year in succession the Carlton team (Clarkson, Coutts, Ball, and J. Trnscolt) yesterday won the final of the Auckland Bowling Centres Christmas tournament. It is noteworthy that. Truscott also won the championship in 1922, and on _ that occasion had Clarkson and Ball in Ins main. Yesterday the title holders met Wyatt, Kirk, Cater, and P. J. TRIALS AT LYTTELTON. The fourth Sanders Cup trial al Lyttelton yesterday morning ended .sensationally, Betty fouling Usher, whch was overtaking her almost at the finishing line. Usher won the race, Linnet If. being second, Betty third, and lona, fourth. Only Imin 47see separated tlio first and last boats. The wind was very light and flaky, changing from south-west to north-east. The fifth trial series was sailed in tho afternoon, Betty winning by 3min from Usher. This gave Betty her fourth win, and she will he the Canterbury representative in the races in February. ' GOLF, MIRAMAR TOURNEY. The Miramar golf tournament was played at Wellington yesterday, when the weather changed from a. threatening morning to. a. bright day, with a fresh northerly wind. In the semifinal games Black (Hntt) unexpectedly succumbed to Pettey (Miramar). Ban'a Wagg (Hntt) secured a narrow win from Hussey (Wanga’nni).
