AUSTRALIAN YEAR ROOK. We have received from tho Commonwealth Statistician a copy of ‘ The Official Year Bopk of tho Commonwealth of Australia’ for 1926. It contains » great variety of information. Opening with a chapter on the discovery, colonisation, and federation of Australia, it gives a- brief summary of the chief events in tho several States, and then passes on to the establishment of the Commonwealth. The functions of the general and local government bodies are explained, and then we come to statistical information in regard to population, land tenure and settlement, finance, transport and communication, trade, industry, and production, and the other manifold interests of tho Commonwealth. This issue also contains a specially contributed article dealing with forestry in Australia. It is n. book of over 1,000 pages, and it has been compiled with painstaking care amd efficiency.
