CHRISTMAS ABROAD
STORMS IH EUROPE
SPAIN AND ITALY SUFFER,
Press Association—By Telegraph-Copyright
LONDON, December 28
England’s escape from the rigors of a “white” Christmas is amazing in face of the weather reports from all parts of Western Europe, where intense cold, with snow and sleet, gripped the country as far south as the Mediterranean.
Spain and Italy are suffering from torrential rainstorms, causing severe floods, with loss of life and incalculable damage to the orange groves in Spain. More than 100 fishing craft have been lost on the Mediterranean coast, and a huge floating dock has been blown adrift.
Six persons succumbed to the cold in Madrid.
