Mr and Mrs W, 0. M'Kellar are the guests of Mr W. F. Edmond, Waikouaiti.

Dr and Mrs Marshall Macdonald are at Temuka for the fishing. At Grcencliffs are Mr Hugh Mackenzie and Miss Margaret Blacken?,ie (Walter Peak), Blrs Peter Blackenzio and her three daughters.

The engagement is announced of Blay, second daughter of Blr and Blrs John A. Haggitt, Highgate, Roslyn, to George Raymond, only son of Blr G. H. Martin, Lawrence.

On Christmas Day Lady Ferguson had a dinner party at her home, Wychwood. The guests were Blr and Mrs Oldham,Mrs Denton Leech, the Blisses Dora and Gwenda Williams, Bli® Blay Barron, Bliss Tennant, and Dr Carmalt Jones.

Bliss Behrens is the' guest of Lady Ferguson. Blr and Blrs J. S. Faulkner, Bliss Blegget, and Bliss Hemmingsen (Invercargill) left by car for Wanaka this morning.

On Blonclay evening Lady Ferguson entertained at bridge. Among the guests were Colonel and Blrs Falla, Blr and Blrs Hutchison, and Blrs Stock.

Bliss Eunice Clarke returned by the Blahono after an extended holiday in Australia.

There was a large attendance at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s Race Bleeting at Wingatui on Blonday, but owing to the threatening weather in town in the morning pretty frocks were not very much worn, smart tailleurs being worn in keeping with the day. Among those noticed on the lawn were Blesdames Sidney Neill (blue suit), Cotterill (navy blue suit, fawn hat), Harty (fawn tailored coat and ribbon hat), Cook (fawn tailored costume and hat to match), O’Neill (navy ensemble, black hat), Bundle (cedarwood ensemble, hat to match), Hutchison (black ensemble, touches of green in hat), Jacobs (smart black tailleur, blacky felt hat), Kane, Greenslade, Glondinning, Blisses Jacobs (tan tailleur and tan hat), J. Halsted (brown coat and brown straw hat), Fitzgerald, A. Halsted, Clapperton, Blacandrew, Sadd, O’Neill, Rutherford, Bennell, Glendinuing, Blcssrs H. L. Tapley, 81. As a result of the very successful concert given last week by the pupils of Archerfield in His Blajesty’s Theatre, the sum of £4O clear of expenses was raised. A cheque for £2O has been sent to the committee of the Nisbet Home, and a similar amount to the committee of St. Blary’s Orphanage.

On Christmas afternoon the Victoria League and the Y.W.C.A. again entertained overseas and lonely girls at the Y.W.C.A. rooms at tea. The girls arrived about 4.30, and at 6 o’clock enjoyed a delightful _ tea- As she sat down to tea each girl was asked to pin a pansy in her dress, Bliss Jackson explaining that a kind thought had sent the flowers, and each might in her turn send a kind thought out into the world. Some part of the evening was spent round fires singing . Christmas hymns songs. The. girls played games merrily, led by Blisses Stocker, Wills, and Vida Barron, who. with Mrs Peter Scorgie, helped Bliss Jackson with the arrangements for the party. The rooms were decorated with flowers sent by kind friends, and each girl went home with a bunch of rosea.

A very pretty wedding took place on Blond ay last at Trinity Church, Stuart street, the officiating clergyman being the Rev. Bellhouse. The bride, Bliss Olive Blason, daughter of Mr and Mrs Blason, Arthur street, looked charming in a frock of white crepe do chine and silver lace, with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful white bouquet. She was attended by her two sisters, Blisses Rita and Gladys B..ason, as bridesmaids, one gowned m a soft shade of powder blue crepe de chine, and the other in apricot, with black crinoline hats, and a sweet little flower girl, Bliss Jean Kennedy, whose frock was lavendar with black hat. All carried bouquets. The bridegroom was Blr A. E. Farrant, Southland, son of Mr and Blrs Farrant, Wellington, and was attended by his two brothers, Mr Leonard Farrant as best man, and Mr i'klgar Farrant as groomsman. After ho ceremony a reception was held at he Kiosk in the Gardens, where Blrs fason received a large party of guests. \fter the wedding breakfast the usual justs wcrG honored, juiu. u3.ncin£s Jiiiu uisic were indulged in.

Six candidates from Dunedin Hosm,l aa t for the State examination for •nrses in December. Five caudidatesMisses E. Russell, Westwood, White, Hodges, and Todd—gained honors, and Bliss Roulston passed.

A very pretty wedding was solemnised in First Church on December 24, I the officiating minister being the Rev. Dr Blerrington. The parties were Flora, eldest daughter of Blr and Mrs A. A. Campbell, St. Kilda Dunedin, and Gerard, eldest son of Blr and BJrs Farmer, Dunedin. The bride,- who was given away bv her father, wore a pretty frock of pale green georgette, embroidered in pale pink, with silk crinoline hat to tone. She also earned a bouquet of pink carnations and sweet peas. She was attended by her sister, Bliss Mona Campbell, wearing a pale pink georgette frock with silk crinoline hat to tone, and a treble string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom. Her bouquet was of heliotrope pansies and sweet peas. Blr L. Geddes acted as best man. After the wedding breakfast, which was held at the Prince of Wales Hotel, the couple left for the north by car. The bride wore a smart travelling frock, a handsome fur coat, and brown georgette tequo. They were the recipients of many useful presents, including cheques.
