COLLISION AT SEA TWENTY-FOUR MEN MISSING. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 26. The steamer Bnrutii, of Liverpool, which has arrived at Portland, reports a collision with the French barque Eugene Schneider, which sank. Four of the latter’s crew were saved by the Burutu’s boats. Twenty-four are missing, amd are believed to be lost. STATEMENT BY CAPTAIN. LONDON, December 27. (Received December 28, at 11.35 a.m.) The captain of the Burutu states that the Eugene Schneider showed no navigation lights. Both vessels were interlocked until the Eugene Schneider filled and sank.—Sydney ‘ Sun’ Cable.
