SIR RUPERT CLARKE,

MELBOURNE, December 27. Sir Rupert Clarke, who was well known in Australian sporting and theatrical circles, died at Monte Carlo from heart failure.

[Sir Rupert Clarke was horn _on March 16, 1865. He was at one time a member of the Victorian Legislative Council. The heir to the title, which was created in 1882, is Rupert William Jehu Clarke, who was born bn November 5, 1919.]
