AUCKLAND, December 27
Carrying over 300 tourists from England, Canada, and the United States, the 30,000 ton Cunard liner Carinthia arrived at Auckland from Port Noresby New Guinea, yesterday afternoon on her second .visit to Now Zealand. Very few of the passengers ventured ashore in the torrential downpour yesterday. All are leaving for Rotorua by special train this morning, returning on Wednesday evening, when the Carinthia sails for Wellington. A party of thirtynine will motor from Rotorua to visit Waitorao Caves, joining the Limited at Waimarino to rejoin the ship at Wellington. Most of’ the passengers are Americans, but there are twelve from England, besides a small band of Canadians. Among interesting personalities are Mr F. W. Kellog, Los Angeles, owner of the Los Angeles ‘ Express,’ and fifteen other American West Coast paper owners; and Miss Ethel Weldon Donaghue, New York’s leading woman lawyer, and formerly assistant Attorney-General in that city.
