PARIS. December 23
Mr J. G. Coates, when interviewed, expressed pleasure in regard to his trip to France. Questioned regarding New Zealand’s attitude to Locarno,, he recalled the dominion Prime Ministers’ joint motion at the Imperial Conference, congratulating the British Government on its efforts to secure agreement. Ho added that New Zealand had put the Empire first, as she was grateful to the Mother Land for her assistance during the dominion’s infancy. She was assuming wider responsibilities, but did not forget her debt of gratitude. New Zealand’s policy in the past had been to seek all the facts to enable her to judge of the position. If the Mother Land found herself obliged to honor her pledge or found herself . endangered, New Zealand would again be found assisting her. DEPARTURE FOR LONDON. PARTS, December 23.. Mr Coates placed a wreath on the Unknown Soldier’s grave. He had lunch at the British Embassy, and has left for London.
