TRENCH MOUTH

EPIDEMIC IN HEW JERSEY Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, December 19. (Received December 20, at 10 a.m.) A message from Trenton (New Jersey) states that an epidemic of trench mouth (or Vincent’s disease) lias affected several thousand persons hero, and is rapidly spreading to a point where the dentists and physicians arc having difficulty in controlling it. This malady is traceable to the World War. It has been transmitted from person to person, and has also appeared in near-by towns, particularly Skillman, a village which is populated by epileptics and has a State institution. ’The disease became so prevalent there that the State authorities called in an extra staff of physicians in an effort to stamp it out. The doctors declare that the disease is rare in tho United Stales, and that it was brought back by the American forces in France. The State Health Department is launching a preventative campaign, and is asking people to stop kissing.
