THE FINAL BUSINESS [Pur United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, November 17. ' ’ The Eresbyterian General Assembly has closed its meetings. It decided to cable to the Prime Minister to take no action with regard to the New Hebrides that docs not safeguard the interests of British readers and Christian missionaries. The Home Mission Committee was instructed to consider and report on ihe establishment _of a training institute for missionaries. A committee was set, up to preserve historical records that are to be placed in the 'Church office in Wellington. Where written or printed records or other relics are known these are to he forwarded to Wellington or reported to the committee. Memorial minutes were passed in connection with the following deceased ministers; —Revs. R. Francis (Blulf), A. W. Kinmont (Duntdin), C. MacDonald (formerly of Temuka) 1 , M. M'Donald (Tasman), Paterson (Wellington), J. W. Shannon (Morire and Matawhero), and W. Watt (New Hebrides). Messages of sympathy were passed to the following ministers, who are in ill-health:—Revs. W. 11‘DonaId, A. Laishley, R. H. Catherwood, J. K. Paterson; and warm congratulations were offered to Rev. John Ryley (Wanaka), who is over ninety years of age, and has faithfully attended the meetings of the Assefhbly. The thanks of the' Assembly were passed to Sir John Ross for his great services to the church, and to the Rev. J. Kirkpatrick • (retiring moderator), Rev. R. S. Watson (for his address at the communion service), ; the Rev. W. H. Howes (convenor of , the Business Committee), the Rev. J. " H. M‘Kcnzio (clerk of Assembly), the Rev. W. J. Comrie (general treasurer), and the staff of the church office. The Moderator delivered the closing address.
