(Received November 18, at 10.10 a.m.) In the Legislative Council the Government, by 35 votes to 27, restored to tho Fire Brigades Amendment Bill the clause on which the Government was defeated. [ln the Legislative Council, on November 12, the Government suffered a i defeat by one vote on a clause in the i amending of the Fire Brigades Bill. The clause provided for an increase in the contribution"of insurance companies towards the maintenance of lire services from one-third' to one-half. The House immediately adjourned.] VICTORIAN MINISTRY DEFEATED NO RESIGNATION. MELBOURNE, November 18. (Received November 18, at 10.10 a.m.) The State Ministry suffered another defeat in the Assembly, when the Government’s proposals for the redivision of the State into electoral districts on the lines of the Boundary Commission’s report were rejected. The Premier, Mr J. Allan, announced that the. Ministry would not resign, as it had made up its mind to pass the Redistribution Bill. , The proposals won id ha referred back to the Commission. Tho House adjourned in disorder.
