BURNS CLUB
„ ■■■ --<*■ MONTHLY MEETING Mr N. M'Donald presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Burns Club last evening in the Early Settlors’ Hall. The Chairman briefly referred to the great success of the last Hallowe’en concert. It had been obviously enjoyed by all who were present, he stated, and tho financial result was most gratifying. The usual fine programme was submitted, and met with the approval of tho audience. Items were given as follow;—Bagpipe Piper W. Budge; part song, Alton Water,’ choir; song ‘ Bonnie Mary of Argyle,’ Mr G. Butler; song, ‘Within a Mile,’ Miss Sara Couper; recitation, ‘The Rehearsal,’ Miss Gay Paape; song, ‘The Standard on the Braes o’ Mar,’ Mr Million Austin; duet, ‘Hunting Tower,' Mrs Matthewson and Mr A. Johnston; song, ‘,My Nannie’s Awa’,’ Mr Sid Taylor; Highland dance, Miss Jean Irvine; humorous song, ‘ Bella, the Belle of Dunoon,’ Mr W. O’Neill; part song, ‘For the Sbke,’ choir; song, ‘My Ain Wee Hoose,’ Mr J Rodgers; instrumental trio, Messrs Ruff, Bamvell, anJ Wragge; song, ‘My Ain Folk,’ Miss Phyllis Clare; recitation. Mr H. Russell; character, sketch, ‘On the Road,’ Mr G. Butler; song, ‘ Laud o’ the Leal.’ Mrs Sutherland; song, ' Hail, Caledonia,’ Mr Martindale; part song, ‘Scotland Yet,’ choir. Miss E. Wright was the accompanist, and the musical director was Mr F. C. Cooper.
