AN AFGHAN MEDALLIST
One of the many active service experi* ences of Major-general Sir Frederic jhrcor, who has been appointed a. ColanclCommandanl of the Royal Artillery, was that of taking part in the famous march to and relief of Kandahar during tho Afghan War of 18S0, which gained for Lord Roberts his peerage. Sir Frederic stii! cherishes the medal ho received for that campaign as tho forerunner of a breastful of decorations ho has won in nearly half a of soldiering. He has fought in the East, in South Africa, and the Great War, and is still young enough to enjoy hunting and other field sports.
