Forecast. Tho Dominion Meteorologist (Mr D. 0. Bates) supplied the following at noon to-day:—-The indications are for westerly winds, moderate to strong; the weather appears likely to be cloudy and unsettled at times; barometer has a rising tendency, but falling after about thirty-six hours, sea moderate, tides good. The Swayne and Hoyt Line steamer West Islip will sail on Tuesday or Wednesday for Bluff and Hobart to finish unloading her cargo from Pacific Coast ports. The Holmdale is now due on Tuesday from Wanganui and Wellington. The Ruapehu is due at Port Chalmers to-morrow afternoon from Bluff to load frozen meat, dairy produce, and general cargo for West of England ports and London. Coining from Wellington direct, tlie Comma is duo on Monday morning. She .should sail on Tuesday for Kelson and New Plymouth via ports. Tho Kurow, duo on Monday evening from Auckland via Napier, is now scheduled to sail on Wednesday for way ports and Auckland. The Wingotui is expected on Thursday from the north, and should sad the same day for Bluff. The Wadiora, which has been laid up ah Port Chalmers for a few weeks, was to sail this afternoon for Newcastle. Captain J. Baldwin is in command. The Waipori will load at Auckland about Thursday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Breeze is expected to-night or to-morrow from Wanganui via ports. Tho West Uenshaw was to leave Los Angeles to-day for Auckland, Napier, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on November 10. The Huntingdon should reach Port Chalmers on Thursday from Lyttelton to complete discharge of her Liverpool cargo. Tho Hertford was to leave Liverpool to-day for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. The auxiliary schooner Piri was to sail at 3 p.m. for Auckland. Captain Watt is in command of the vessel, which is 75 tons gross. Expected this afternoon from Bluff, tho Calm is to .sail on Tuesday evening for Wellington and Wanganui via ports. Tho New Zealand Shipping _ Company’s Hororata will_ leave Wellington on Tuesday for loading at Wanganui and New Plymouth. She is due back at Wellington on October 31, and will then proceed to Tokomaru Bay and Auckland to complete. The Hororata is fixed to sail finally from Auckland on November 16 for Boston and London via P.anaraa. The C. and D. Line steamer Port Hobart was to leave Wellington to-day for Auckland to complete discharge of her cargo from London. Sho will also commence loading at the northern port, and proceed thence to Gisborne, New Plymouth, Wellington, and Napier. Tho Port Hobart will sad finally from Napier in November for Loudon via Panama. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Wahino, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.35 a.m, to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the 8.50 a.m. express, NEW MOTOR SHIP YOMAH. Recently launched from tho yards of William Denny and Bros., Ltd., Clyde, to the order of the Patrick Henderson Line, Glasgow, tho motor ship Yomah is to make her maiden voyage to New Zealand. Under charter to the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, the vessel is scheduled to leave New York on November 24 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Yomah is a unit of tho fleet comprising the steamers Mandalay, Martaban, and Sittang. _ The latter two ships have previously visited these waters m. the interest of tho Commonwealth and Dominion Line. WRECK STATISTICS. Compared with 1924, when 1,326,134 tons of shipping was broken up, only 579,574 tons was last year (according to statistics compiled by the authors of ‘ Lloyd’s Register of Ship* ping’). In 1925 the gross reduction of ships lost, broken up, or condemned amounted to 739 vessels of 1,142,035, tons, excluding all vessels of less than 100 tons. Of this total, 553 ships, of 980,794 tons, were steamers and motor ships, and 186, of 161,241 tons, sailing vessels.

Ships owned in Great Britain and Ireland and dismantled or broken tip in 1925 amounted to 203,107 tons. Strandings and similar casualties coni' prised in the term “wrecked” account tor 50.7 per cent, of the losses of steamers and motor ships, and 46 per cent, of the losses of sailing ships. Foundered, abandoned, and missing ships made up 28 per cent, of _ all vessels removed from the list in 1925. FINNISH BARQUE OLIVEBANK. Bound from the Seychelles Islands with a big cargo of phosphates, the Olivehank is sixty-six days out on her trip to Bluff and Dunedin. The ship might only report off Bluff and continue her voyage to this port. If she is berthed at Dunedin she will be the largest sailing yesael to, come through

tlia‘ Victoria channel.' The captain’ of the Kathlamba, which sailed yesterday for Hobart, is keeping a look out for the Olivebank, but so far no wireless report has come from him. The barque should be sighted from the Kathlamba, and also by the intercolonial Manuka, the latter being listed to leave Bluif this afternoon for Melbourne. The Olivebank is a steel four-masted barque of 2,818 tons gross, and was formerly known as the Caledonia. She was built by Messrs Mackie and Thomson at Glasgow in 1892, and is owned by G. Eriksqn, of Mariehamn. Her principal dimensions are ;—Length 326 ft, breadth 43ft lin, and depth 24ft Bin. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
