IN REMEMBRANCE

WAR MEMORIAL TABLET UNVEILING AT WESTMINSTER AN IMPRESSIVE CEREMONY. . Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, October 19. (Received October 20, at 9.55 a.m.)‘ There were heart-stirring scenes at tho unveiling of tho war memorial tablet in the presence of members of the Cabinet, the dominion Prime Ministers, and others. The ceremony lasted for only fifteen minutes. An appropriately sombre note was struck, everybody being in black attire except tho Mayor of Westminster, who was in full regalia, this being the only touch of color. The Prince of Wales arrived to the strains of Elgar’s ‘ Land of Hope and Glory.’ He headed the procession up the nave, where the tablet is permanently being placed near the Unknown Warrior’s grave. After the Dean’s opening prayers the Prince of Wales released the covering Union Jack and said: “I unveil this tablet in honor of our comrades who fell. Time cannot dim the remembrance of them, or lessen tho gratitude to the Allies who have given land in which so many arc buried, enabling ns to care for the graves forever.” He then stood facing the tablet, reverently placing a wreath upon it. Tho hymn ‘ 0 Valiant Henris ’ followed. The Dean then dedicated tho memorial and pronounced the benediction, the National Anthem being played as the procession re-formed and marched to .the west door, where the Prince of Wales chatted and shook 1 innds with the dominion Prime Ministers before departing, after which the public was admitted and slowly filed past.
