QUEEN OF RUMANIA

■ ' HER ABSEEIGAH VISIT COMMERCIAL FEATURES RESENTED. trass Association—By Telegraph—CopyrigMl NEW YORK, October 18. The arrival of Queen Marie of Rumania, which had been heralded by the newspapers for weeks with streaming headlines, fell short of expectations following rumors to the effect that the “friendly visit” involves negotiating Hie loan for Rumania- A mere 200 persons braved the rain to welcome the Queen, and the triumphant parade up Broadway was marked by a lack of public enthusiasm. There were evidences of ill-feeling owing to the Queen’s granting a news syndicate the exclusive rights of all statements, thus eliminating the newspapers which are not clients of the syndicate. The Queen proceeded to Washington* where, it is stated, all the proprieties will bo observed, including an official, dinner at White House. Considerable dksatisfacten, however*' is privately expressed in official circles over the fact that a news agency rot presentativo has been made a member. of the Queen’s entourage, and w3l pro*i bably attend the White House ftmctioai in the capacity of a journalist, which iaconsidered most unprecedented. High Government officials are unable to conceal their displeasure at the commercial features of the visit- The prevailing opinion is that the country is being given an overdose of Press agency operations. j ARRIVAL AT WASHINGTON j , WASHINGTON, October IS. j Queen Marie and party arrived latC to-night by a special train, FIRST OFFICIAL ACT* .
