TO-DAY'S CASH PRICES The Guide gives the prices fc-r cash over the counter sales. Sugar has gone up again, bags now being 17s 6d, a Is increase. The price per lb is a id rise. Eggs are selling at Is 7d and Is Bd, and farmers’ butter is down to Is 2d. In the meat shops, mutton has been reduced about Id per lb, prices ranging from 3ld to fcd. Lamb is 11s forequarter and 12s for hinds. Other prices are:— Beef roasts, 4d to 7d; steak, 4d to 10d; corned, 4d to 8d; mince, sd. Fish is very scarce owing to the bad weather, and prices are: — Groper, Is lb; fioundeis, 1s 3d;blue cod, 1s; smoked blue cod, Is 3d; fresh oysters, Is 6d per two dozen pottle. No fresh whitebait or crayfish are on the market.

Vegetable prices are:—Cauliflowers, 6d, large size 8d to lOd; hothouse cucumbers, 1$ 3d to is Sri; lettuce, outside grown, 3d to Cd; spinach, 3d; spring cabbages, 4cl to 6d; asparagus, is 6d per bunch; Hutt-grown new potatoes, Bcl per lb; Peninsula potatoes, 2s per lb; green peas, 3s 6d per lb; rhubarb, 4d per lb.

Fruit prices arc:—Navel oranges, 3 for Is, 3 for Is 3d; New Zea-land-grown lemons, 6 for 1s; local hothouse tomatoes, 3s per lb; Rarotongan tomatoes, 1s 6d per lb; bananas, 8 and 10 for Is; Fiji pines, 1s to Is 6d; mandarins, 10 for Is; Californian grapes, 1s 6d per lb; Californian lemons, 4 for Is; cooking pears, 4d per lb. Apple prices are unaltered.
