GIPSY SMITH MISSION

EXECUTIVE MEETING There was a largo attendance of the Gipsy Smith Mission Executive in first Church Hall last night, the Rev. H. E. Bellhouso occupying the chair. A great deal of correspondence from Gipsy Smith and others was read in connection with the Dunedin mission It was decided to hold a public welcome to the mission party in Burns Hall on the Saturday evening preceding the opening of tiie mission. The opening meeting on Sunday night, October 24, will commence at 8.15 in tire Exhibition Buildings. On the two succeeding Sundays the evening meeting will commence at 7 o’clock. It was notified that on the first Sunday tho services will not bo broadcasted, but that arrangements have been made to broadcast on the remaining Sundays, Mr J. W. Todd reported that arrangements were being made to hold one young people’s meeting in Burns Hall and one in South Dunedin. The Rev. W. Walker informed the meeting that tho midday meetings would be held in the Octagon Hall each day, except Labor Day, from 12..‘10 to Till). On tho motion of the Rev. W. R. Scott the padres belonging to the meeting were appointed a committee to arrange for the Gipsv to address a meeting of returned soldiers on his war experiences. It was agreed that the Y.M.C.A. he asked to make arrangements for tho business men’s dinner.

The seating-used in the Festival Hall for the Exhibition Choir will lie used for the mission choir, and it was decided to urge all who could assist with the singing to link up with the work of the choir. It was reported that the mid-week meetings held in the centre, North-east Valley, and South Dunedin on Wednesday nights bad been well attended. Mr E. A. Rosevear announced that seating for about 2,200 people had been promised, with more offers to come.

The meeting then adjourned till next Thursday night.
