ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
CHILD’S SUDDEN DEATH. An inquest concerning the death of June Pearl Taylor, aged six years, who was found unconscious by the roadside at Auckland on Wednesday afternoon, and who died shortly afterwards, was held before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., as coroner. ~ , , . , Dr J, W. Craven said ho had attended the child twice in the past nine months for minor complaints. There were no marks of violence on the body when examined. A post-mortem examination showed that the child was well nourished, and all the ■f'gans were healthy except the thymus gland winch was markedly enlarged. Death from this condition was liable to occur suddenly and without warning, i The father of tho child said she always appeared to bo in good health, and was apparently well on Wednesday morning, and also when she left for school after lunch. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence. — Press Association telegram.
FATAL BURNS
A young woman named Alice Sykes was leaning over the range in her homo at Rongoniai yesterday when her clothes caught fire. She rushed outside to get her father’s help. He could only put her in a holo in the orchard to extinguish the flames. She was terribly burned, and was removed to the Pallia,tua Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries this morning.—Pahiatna Press Association telegram.
A Hastings Press Association telegram states that Albert Lawson, aged 02, married, with a wife and four of a family, was found hanging in an outhouse alongside his residence this morning. He rose at 6.30 and went outside, and as ho did not return for breakfast his son investigated, with the above result. Lawson had been suffering from nervous depression lately. Ho was a native of England, but bad resided in Hawke’s Bay for twenty-five years.
