FUR COLLAR WHICH CAUSED SKIN DISEASE
DAMAGE AGAINST A SHOPKEEPJEB. A woman who suffered from skin disease after wearing a coat with a fur collar bought at a shop in London road, Liverpool, was awarded £IOO damages against the shopkeeper at the Liverpool Court of Passage. The case produced evidence from Dr R. W. M'Konna, the skin specialist, of the danger of the use of paraphenyleno diamine for dyeing furs or the bairn as it is a drug which produces very violent dermatitis. The plaintiff was Mrs Sarah Fox, wife of a Liverpool Corporation employee, of Field View, Town Meadow lane. Moreton. The defendant was Mr Frank Lcgh, ladies’ outfitter and furrier* of London road, Liverpool. In 1924, it was stated, Mrs Fox bought a coat with a fur collar at Mr Legh’s shop. She first wore it in the spring of 1925, and then a rash broke out on her neck. For this she treated herself. Later in the year, after wear ing the coat again, an irritating rash attacked her, and eventually it was found at the Royal Infirmary that she was : suffering from dermatitis, which had intermittently occurred until the present time, causing pam, disfigurement, and discomfort.
