CRICKET
GRANGE CLUB The forty-ninth annual report of the Grange Cricket Chib states: — The club entered five teams in the Otago Cricket Association’s competitions, and one in the Otago Boys’ Association’s competition, with the following results.
From the above it will ho seen that the club’s record was a fairly successful one. The seniors, after a memorable match with Dio Dunedin team, again won the shield. Tho fourth eleven wore runners-up, being defeated in tho play-off by the Y.M.C.A. team. Both these teams are to be heartily congratulated. The Boys’ Association team was not so successful as in previous seasons, and it behoves tho incoming committee to foster this team along. After holding the fielding trophy for Dio last four seasons, Die senior eleven was defeated for tho possession of the cup by the Albion eleven. The batting and howling averages in the various grades wore gained by the following:— First Grade. —Batting: A. Galland, 43.22; A. W. Alloo, 42.45; J. M'Mullan, 33.57. Bowling: A. Galland, 13.64; f. M'Gregor, 18.U8; A. W. Alloo, 19.80.
Second A.—Batting: R. Knowles, 16.60; W. Titchencr, 14.60; A. Colbert, 9.10. Bowling; E. Downes, 18.03; L. Randall.
Second B.—Batting; W. Walker, 27:00; G. Rcstieaux, 10.40. Bowling: G. Reaticanx, 5.02; E. Hay, 11.4. U; W. Walker, 12.00. Third.—Averages not available. Fourth.—flatting; A. Harris, 16.60; N. Conradi, 15.40; J. Breen, 11.24. Bowling: N. Conradi, 6.44; D. 0. Napper, 9.30; J. Breen, 10.0. Boys' Association.—Averages not available.
Heartiest congratulations are due to the following, who made centuries during the season:—A. Galland (131 and 100), N. Conradi (108), J. M'Mnllan (102), W. Walker (100). The club was again well represented in representative matches, and congratulations are due to Messrs Knight, Conradi, Alloo, Galland, and M‘Muilan, who worthily upheld tho honor of the province in Plnnket Shield matches. Messrs Grant and Brown also represented Otago against Southland, and Mr A. W, Alloo represented New Zealand on the Australian tour.
The committee expresses its host thanks to the following, who bo generously donated trophies for competition during the season;—Messrs G. A. Nelson, W. M. Beal, R. M'Lean, V. Thiele, J. Walker, J. Curtis, A. Rostieaux and T. Hitchcock. I o the hon. secretary and treasurer (Mr W. Rowland) and the assistant hon.. secretary (Mr T. C. Hitchoek) the thanks of Dio club are duo for services rendered. M'Lcau’s trophy, fourth grade batting average, A. Harris; I. Courtis’s trophy, fourth grade bowling average, N, Conradi; T. Hitchcock’s trophy, keenest junior player, W. F. Titchcnor; T. F. Hitchcock’s cap, promising boy, 0. Dey; T. C. Hitchcock’s cap, special merit, G. Elmes.
