COMBINED LODGES
AHMIVEDSABY SOCIAL Tho first combined birthday party of tho/Lodge Pacific, No. 5, 0.E.8., and tho Lodge Taieri. No. 4, G.E.IL, took place in the St. Kikia Town Hall bust night. The party took tho form o) a combined social and dance, and about 250 couples were present. Tho proceedings opened with tho grand march of the Buffaloes, alter which a flashlight photograph of those present was taken. v In opening tire proceedings, the Chairman (Knight Carpenter, K.0.M.) extended a hearty welcome to those who were present, and stated that the tw'o lodges were now past their baby stage and would soon be well established. Telegrams of congratulation were received from Primes Hopkins and Wheatly, of H.M.S. Dunedin, on behalf of the Lodge Oceanic, .No. 6. During the evening items werq given by Primo and Miss Walker (ju-jitsu exhibition), Pnketeraki Maoris (hakas and poi dances). Music for the dances was supplied by Ellison’s Maori Orchestra, and novelty dances and games also occupied places in the programme.
