ST. MARTIN’S PARISH

ANNUAL FAIR Tim annual fair organised hy the St. Martin’s Church members was opened in the Millar Street Hall hy Lady Ferguson yesterday. In introducing her ladyship, tho vicar (the Rev. K. D. Andrews Baxter) said that he hoped tor support from outside parishes, and he stated that a fund had been opened for donations from outside sources, ami Airs C, 11. Napier had. kindly sent the. sum nf £5 ss. Lady Ferguson expressed her pleasure at being asked to he present at the function, and congratulated the Rev. Mr Baxter on tho enthusiasm that he had instilled into the hearts of his helpers. Apologies wore received from ihe mayor (Mr H. L. Tapley, M.P.) and from tho deputy-mayor (Mr AV. B. Taverner) for their non-attendance. The various stalls, which wero tastefully decorated, were in charge nf tho following ladies Fancy stall, Mrs 11. H°S6) produce stall, Mrs AV. B. Fowler; Ladies’ Guild, Mrs Tyrrell; stationery stall and Christmas tree, Mrs L. Coomhes; sweet stall, Mr J. Robinson; flower stall, Miss Reilly and Mrs R Knowles; refreshment stall, Perseverance Guild. Mr G. Macdonald was in charge of the side shows, etc. The fair will be continued this evening and to-morrow. Each evening a varied entertainment will be given.
