Tho Dominion Meteorologist (Mr D. C. Bates) supplied tho following at noon to-day;—-Tho indications are for easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening, and backing by east to north; there is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, and milder conditions; barometer unsteady soon; sea moderate, tides good.

Waipahi, s.s. (12.5 p.m-), 1,783 tons, Kane, from Auckland via ports. Port Dunedin, motor ship (I p.m.), 7,463 tons, W. H. Lea, from Glasgow and Liverpool via Panama and north New Zealand ports.

THE FERRY SERVICE

The Wabine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.m. to-dai, and passengers and mails connecter! with tho 8.50 express.

The Waipahi will not sail until noon Monday for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Tho cargo she brought included transhipments ox the Mnunga.nui from San Francisco and fresh i ruit from Auckland’and Wellington. The Knrow is expected to leave Auckland on Tuesday for southern pons. She will load hero about September 11 for Wellington and Auckland via Tnuaru and Lyttelton. The Kamo went to Port yesterday for survey and overhaul. The Holmdale is duo on Monday morning from Wanganui and Wellingto discharge and to load general cargo. The Kaimanawa left Suva at mid-day on August 31 with 3,000 tons of hijian raw sugar for Auckland. She is duo there on Sunday. The Gale is now timed to arrive on Monday from .Wellington direct. Alter discharge she will go to Port Chalmers to be clocked for cleaning and painting, and will return to Dunedin on September 9 to load, for way ports and Wanganui.

The Tofua is due at Auckland oa Tuesday morning from Tonga. Samoa* and Fiji with passengers, mails, and a cargo of island fruit. The Huddart, Parker steamer Uli» maroa is duo at Auckland on Tuesday from Sydney with passengers, mails, and cargo. She is timed to sail on the return voyage on Friday. The Karetu was to leave Newcastle to-day, and should sail from Sydney on Tuesday for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Oamaru, and Bluff. Tho Kahika, from Gisborne, will csfi at Wellington on her way south to load benzine. She is duo here about the end of nest week, and will load out for the north, C. AND D. PORT DUNEDIN. The Port Dunedin was to complete unloading at Dunedin today, and wiU go to Port Chalmers to-morrow afternoon to load. She will leave Port on Tuesday for Oamaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington to complete loading, and ia dne at Wellington on September 17. Her departure for London via Panama is fixed for September 21.

PORT DUNEDIN ARRIVES, On her third voyage to New Zealand, and her second to Du nodin, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s motor ship Port Dunedin reached port yesterday afternoon from Liverpool via Panama, Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. The vessel was berthed at tho Victoria wharf, where the remainder of her Homo cargo is being discharged. The Port Dunedin loaded her freight at Glasgow and Liverpool. She sailed from tho latter port on July IS, and cleared Panama on July 31. Fine weather was experienced on tho voyage until August 18, when a hard, westerly galo with high head seas was encountered, and lasted for forty-eight hours. Tho vessel was considerably buffeted by the mountainous seas, which delayed her progress. On August 2 V the conditions improved, and fine weather prevailed to arrival at Auckland. In spite of tho delay the Port Dunedin made a smart voyage. Bha sailed from England two days after the Shaw, Savill liner Corinthic, which arrived at Auckland on August 22, The Port Dunedin’s speed from Liverpool to Auckland averaged 13.96, knots, hut from Liverpool to Panama she averaged 14.22 knots. Captain W. EL Lea is in command, and ho has associated with him the following officers: —Chief, Mr R. ONcodhara: second, Mr H. E Post; third, Mr B. G. Jones; fourth, Mr K. Wheeler; chief engineer, Mr H. bL Weir; senior second, Mr W. Gentry; junior second, Mr J, Rattray; senior third, Mr L. Loffler; junior third, Mt L. Broadbridgo; senior fourth, Mr T. Lin Mater; junior fourth, Mr H. Ameyj assistant engineers—Messrs J. J Lewis, and P. Hubbard; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr T. Gent; second, Mr J. Durward; first wireless operator, Mr H. G. Jarves; second, Mr W. A. M.‘Donald; chief steward, Mr Barber. On completion of discharge the Port Dunedin will load dominion products at Port Chalmers, Oamaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington for London. MATAKANA LEFT BALBOA, Gable news has been received by the Shaw, Savill Company that the steamier Matakana left Balboa on Tuesday evening for Auckland, Wellington, and southern ports en route from Liverpool. The vessel ifi due at Auckland on September 21, and at Wellington on September 28. CUMBERLAND FROM UTEPOOL. Bringing cargo from West of England ports tho Federal Lino steamer Cumberland is scheduled to reach Auckland from Liverpool on September 6.
