BABY’S BODY BURIED. Tho body of a baby girl, born on Thursday morning, was found boned, in a house garden at Mount Albeit, Auckland, on Saturday, the mother being a girl about twenty years of employed as a domestic. Am inquest was opened and adjourned lor a post mortem examination. DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC. Florence Ada White, aged about thirty years, died in a private hospital at Napier under an anaisthetic. At the inquest a verdict was returned that deceased died under an amesthetis during an operation for goitre, and that death was due to heart failure, predisposed by goitre, and finally brought on by tho operation. LUCKY ESCAPE-TOUCHED HIGH VOLTAGE LINE. A sudden cut out of tho Mangalmo electric power in southern Hawke’s Bav shortly before 2 p.m. yesterday was due to an accident to one of tho Public Works Department’s men. W. Groig was doing some repairs at the Ruaroa sub-station when his loot slipped and accidentally touched an 1 ] ,()0() volt line. Fortunately, tho automatic protective switches at Ruaroa acted instantaneously, allowing tho victim to drop clear of tho lino into tho safety holt. From this position ho was rescued by Mr B. Crump, tho official in charge of tho sub-station, who acted with courage and presence of mind. Tho sufferer received prompt medical attention, and on being removed to hospital was quite conscious and able to converse. He is suilcrmg from burns on tho hands and lacc. SUICIDE SUSPECTED. Indications point to the fact that Frank Milton Winter, proprietor of a seaside picture theatre at Lyall Bay, Wellington, has committed suicide. Ho has been missing since Sunday. His overcoat was found near the Miramar Esplanade, and in tho coat was a letter bidding farewell to his wiio and familv, asking thorn to forgive him, but that it was the only way to relievo the pains in bis head. Ho lias been a mental case. Sergeant Pender and tho police aro dragging for his body.—Press Association. SUICIDE AT SEA. , A second-class passenger named F. Dixin committed suicide by shooting himself aboard tho Niagara after tho liner had sailed from Vancouver. Dixin’s hotly was found on the boat dock with a bullet through Hie head. He had booked for Auckland, having verv little luggage. The body was buried at sea. ' Dixin left a letter Tor the captain apologising for his action. A CYCLIST KILLED. A cyclist named Allan Basil Banks, aged seventeen, was killed in Manukau road, Epsom, Auckland, last night, as the result of a collision with a motor bus.
