BRISBANE, August 16. A conference of the Amateur Athletic Union of Australia and New Zealand was held to-day, and was at-] tended by delegates from all the States. Mr R. Cooinbcs, who was reelected president, was in the chair. The following Australasian records were passed:—Three miles running, Rose, 14inin 45 l-ssec; javelin throwing, Lay, lS7ft 7Jin; mile run, Rose, 4rain 13 3-ssec; 220yds, straight course, Jackson (Scholz, 21 2-ssec; 100yds, Jackson Scholz, 9 4-oscc. The application for the hammerthrowing record which Merchant established at Wellington, and which was rejected by the Hobart conference, was reconsidered and passed. It was decided to ask the New Zealand Association, if possible, to hold the next Australasian championships in December or early in January.

A motion was passed asking the Australasian Union, if possible, to arrange a tour for overseas athletes during the coming season.

It was decided to include a running hop, step, and jump event in the championship programme. It was decided to request the English Amateur Athletic Association to set up a small body in England to establish a system of British Empire records. The reinstatement rules were amended to provide that any case may bo declared “ special ” by a threefourths vote of an association by reason of any unusual or exceptional circumstances, and may bo referred to the executive of the union, which shall have power either to reinstate or to postpone or reject the application on snob terms ns the union thinks fit. Minor motions brought forward ' by New Zealand were carried.
