GRAIN AND PRODUCE

Messrs Donald Roid and Co., Ltd., report:— Oats.—This market shows little improvement. An inquiry tor undergrades was instrumental in the disposing of several lines that were hanging in store, but business is m-dnly restricted to the seed demand, and (recorded sales point to a fair area being once again planted out. A Gartens are worth to 3s 3d; B Gartens, 3s (sacks extra), on trucks, country stations.

Wheat.—Millers are keen to acquire any lines suitable for gristing; consequently prices have been obtained in advance of the reigning fixed rates. Fowl wheat also has firmed, and all marketable lines are easily_ disposed of. Milling value is on a basis of 7s (on trucks, country stations) for Tuscan, and Gs Gd is a fair estimate of average fowl quality. Sacks extra in each case. Chaff.—The local demand embraces practically prime quality only. Other grades are very difficult to quit. The supply is quite equal to the demand, and a fair proportion is hold in,store, and this specially appertains to the lower grades. We quote; Prime, £-5 15s, ex truck; medium to £5, ex store; inferior from £3 IDs (sacks extra). Potatoes. The local,, market, no doubt influenced by decreased shipping inquiries, shows signs of a further weakening in value. Early growth and consequently inevitable picking makes storing a questionable asset. We quote: Prime tables to £6, ex truck (sacks in).
