THE MIGHTY ATOM
SIR OLIVER LODGE AND THE UNSEEN WORLD. Speaking at Tisbmy, near Salisbury, Sir Oliver Lodge said the number of things seen was infinitesimal compared with tho number that exists. Nobody ever saw an atom, but there were more atoms in a teacupful of water than there were teacups of water in the At lantic Ocean. There were more atoms in a drop of water than there were green blades on tho earth. All things seen were temporal. His body had lasted seventy-five years, and might last a few more, but was bound to go to pieces. It was rather an awful thought that wo were eternal, but, apparently, wo wore. We certainly did not stop at death. There was a time when the unseen world came into mortal ken. People on their death beds sometimes saw their departed loved ones' come to help them over into tho world.*' ■ ■ * ■ * • * '
