Resulting from heavy losses of piece foods which the merchants of Calcutta Eavc suffered through repeated communal riots, tho Warwari Chamber of Commerce, the most influential body of Indian traders, has requested its member.: not to place forward contracts for foreign piece Roods for defined periods. The effect will be that there will be no piece-goods trade with Manchester for four months. The normal imports, which amount to £26,000,000 a year, will be reduced by one-third.—lleutcr.
