TRAINING COLLEGES’ TOURNEY
CHRISTCHURCH AND DUIIEDIN The members of the Christchurch Training College team, which is ongiged in the annual tournament with unedin Training College, arrived by yesterday afternoon’s express. The party comprises sixty men and women students, who are taking part in swimming, tennis, basket ball, hockey, boxing, debating, and Rugby contests against the Dunedin College. They arc under the joint managership of Mr J. G. Poison, vice-principal of the Christchurch. Training College, and Dr H. Richmond (ladies’ manager). Tho president of tho Christchurch Students’ Association (Mr R. J. Carleton) and the secretary (Mr L. Mahan) are in the party. The visitors were welcomed at the railway station by the president (Mr A. R. Howie), vice-president (Miss K. Bcnzoni, 8.A.), and secretary (Mr D. N. Ferguson), and other representatives of tho Dunedin executive. Alter they had given a rousing haka they were allotted to their respective hosts, with whom they will be billeted during the progress of tho tournament. A meeting of the combined executives of the Christchurch and Dunedin Students’ Associations was hold at the college last night, Mr A. R. Howie presiding over a large attendance. Proceedings were in committee, consideration being given to intercollege relations and to various matters in connection with the annual tournament. FOOTBALL AND BOXING.
Tho annual football fixture will be decided at Carlsbrook on Thursday afternoon, the teams being as follow: Dunedin. Backs —J. Vickers, I. M'Leod, J. C. Braithwaitc, 0. C. Nicholson, G. Talbot and B. Batcher (forwards). Christchurch.—Backs—Jordan, Aitken, J. Moffat, L. Mahan, D. Grant, H. Morgan, It. J. Carloton (captain); forwards—G. L. Thompson, A. F. Ellis, S. A. Cooper, G. Maxwell, S. A. Johnson, It. G. Webb, W. Lovegrove, X. J. Dow; emergencies, Davis and Reid.
Dunedin will bo represented in the boxing contests by the following:— Feather-weight, D. N. Ferguson; lightweight, S. Foley; welter-weight, W. Henderson; middle-weight, J. Braithwaite; heavy-weight, A. Malcolm.*
