PNEUMONIC INFLUENZA

DEATH IN DUKEOIH FURTHER CASE REPORTED. The second death from pneumonia influenza in the Dunedin Hospital occurred yesterday. This makes the third death for the district, the first being in Invercargill. The Dunedin victim was a man. A further case was reported to-day, the first since Saturday, which goes to show that there is no alarming feature about the outbreak, which has been slight. EIGHT NEW GASES THREE DEATHS IN AUCKLAND. [Peu United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 2. Eight fresh cases of pneumonic influenza were reportecfgto the Auckland District Health Officer during the weekend, or for the first two days of this month. Two came from the city, and one each from Devonport, Panraure, Papatootcc, Morrinsville, Rotorua, and Tauranga. Three deaths were reported, the cases being those of pneumonic influenza which were reported last month.

SECOND DEATH IN INVERCARGILL

INVERCARGILL, August 2. While Southland has, in common with other provinces, been subjected to the influenza epidemic, the malady has not assumed the virulent form experienced further north. The two deaths previously reported were not due solely to tlio pneumonic type of the disease. To-day, however, the first death directly duo to pneumonic influenza was reported, the patient being John Robins, aged seventeen, a resident of Lumsden. There were no other notifications.
