UNEMPLOYMENT.

TO THE EDITOE. , Sir,— The letters from John P. Walla (Mosgiel) and “Sympathiser” in the ‘Star’ are such as to commend the interests of the unemployed and those depending upon them to the practical sympathy of the public. The register shows an increasing number of unemployed, and the committee has a difficult task in solving tho problem. It becomes the duty ot all to render such assistance as everyone’s circumstances will permit, and thus prevent anv undue suffering through want ot food, clothing, or firing. I enclose 21s towards the fund.—l am, etc., July 9. 11.W.H.
