Accounts amounting to £l2B Ms were passed for payment. I On the motion of Mr Rice, seconded by Mr Nees, it was decided to postpone all'matches on Saturday, in view of tho hockey match between the Indian | team and Otago. 1 Tho Secretary of tho Kaitnngata Club wrote stating _ that Mr S. Devcreux had been appointed to represent tho club on the Management Com-mittee.—-Received. i Mr Rico reported that the installation of the electric light on the North , Ground for training purposes had been completed. He had made an inspection of the work, and had found that it had been done in a very satisfactory manner. The Chairman reported that the work of ligting up t-ho Robin Hood , Ground would be completed to-day. I Mr Lambonrno, surveyor, wrote forj warding a letter from the town clerk j with reference to tho subdivision of tho ; League's property in South Dunedin. Tlio width of the streets shown on the ! plan was 40ft. Mr Lewin stated that . it was not possible to give an absolute assurance that streets of a width of 40ft would bo permitted. The council would do everything in its power to obtain tho sanction of the Public Works Department. In view of tho fact that a street 40ft wide had been sanctioned by tho Public Works Department on the adjoining property, there seemed j to bo no reason why streets of n. similar width should not he allowed on tho area under notice.—Received.

The Chairman reported that in tho senior match between Kaitangata and Knikorai on Saturday a player named M'Ewcn, of the Kaikorai Club, had been ordered off the field for talking back to the referee (Mr Devereux). The player, who had stated that he had spoken to the players round about him and not to the referee, had apologised to tho referee afterwards. Mr Devereux was of the opinion that tho ordering off would ho sufficient punishment, and tho Judicial Committee had endorsed that view.—The recommendation of the Judicial Committee was endorsed.

The Chairman -also reported that a player in a junior match at Chisholm Park had been ordered off the field for talking hark to the referee. Tho -•''•vpt- bnt) allowed to take part in the game later on.—lt was decided to ask tho referee to supply f report for consideration by tho Judicial Committee next Monday. ( Mr Lindsay referred to the fact that, although he was one of the sei lectors, lie had not been notified that the Otago team for tho West _ Coast 1 was to bo selected on tbo evening of ' the match against Canterbury. Ar- ! rangeinonts had previously been made for selecting tbo team on the following Monday.—Air Watt, one of the selec!tnrs, said that lie and Mr Pice, tho | other selector, had expected that Mr ; Lindsay would he present at tho match I between Canterbury and Otago, and as i complaints had been made that tho scI lection of the team for the West Const I was being left too late, they had decided to pick the representatives on tho j Saturday. Both Mr Watt and Mr Rico ! pave an assurance that no slight to Mr Lindsav was intended.

SOCCER O.F.A. COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association, held last night, wins presided over by Mr J. B. M'Callum. A CHEAT IMPROVEMENT. The Chairman spoke of the great improvement brought about at Culling Park by the erection of the now seat- • ing accommodation. ' Mr T. Ritchie said that two Rugby enthusiasts whom ho had taken to the park had expressed pleasure at the I improvement and tho standard of the | games. Members spoke in optimistic terras of the progress indicated by the way in which tho public turned out on Saturday. APPEAL DISMISSED. Tho Secretary of tho Northern Club appealed against tho referee’s decision in the match against Seacliff on Saturday. The ground of the protest was that a penalty kick was given against Northern. When Anderson' advanced at the whistle to take the kick, sove- , ral Northern and Seacliff players also I advanced, that being against the rules. I Tho referee sounded his whistle, evi- ■ dontly to call the players back, hut Anderson went on and kicked a goal past the nonplussed goalkeeper. j The referee, Mr A. Preston, said that though tho Seacliff players advanced they were still 10yds behind the ball. It was the Northern men who were closer than that, and ho thought i it was not a fair tiling that Seacliff ; should be done out of a goal by an in- { frinc;€inent by the Northern. j It" was suggested that tho referee had made a mistake in blowing the''whistle a second time at all. The referee said that if the kick had been missed he would have given it j again. i Mr L. H. Scott said the position 1 could be summed up by saying that the referee applied tho advantage rule. Tho referee then withdrew. Mr Scott moved that the game stand, and that Northern’s appeal deposit be refunded. Agreed to. MANAWATU MATCH. The Manawatu Football Association wrote stating that it would be pleased to field a team against Otago at Palmerston North on September 15. It was stated that the council’s approval bad yet to bo given. “OVER THE EDGE.” The Secretary of the Pride of Leith ' Club complained that for the third time no refereo had turned up to Sat- | urday’s match. _ , Mr Scott: This is getting over tho agreed, and it was decided to place the matter very plainly before t the Referees’ Club. PROTEST UPHELD. Southern appealed for the fourth grade match against Technical Old Boys, on the ground that the latter had played a Mornington second grader named Cope. >, The Secretary ot the Technical College Old Boys’ Club said in a letter that Cope was on tho field only in the first spell. Realising the mistake, the Technical captain approached the Southern captain, who agreed to Cope

playing. That was at half-time. Both captains approached the referee, but lie refused to allow Cope to continue. Technical then played on with ten men, and won with two goals scored in the second spell. ihe Mornington secretary wrote advising that Cope had been censured, and that a notice had been placed in the pavilion warning players against such practices. . It was stated that the playing or a stranger was a matter for the referee, and the appeal was upheld. TRANSFERS. Maori Hill applied for the transfer of R. Newall from first to second grade, and of a player named Spence from Southern to the Hill club. _ Mr Scott (Transfer Committee) said that there was no objection to tho transfer of Newall, but tho other transfer could pot be granted, for a player could not come out for two chibs in a season unless ho moved nine miles Iroiti tho Post Office. Mr Scott’s report was accented. An application from Southern for the transfer of C. Day from first to second grade was referred to the jiansfer Committee. TRIAL MATCH.
